Mushroom Growing 101 //48timer festival

pink oysters grown on wooden substrate

We once again open our door, this time hosting a workshop on the art of mushroom growing. In collaboration with 48timer festival, lokaludvalget nørrebro and Osramhuset.

This time, we will be focusing on the different aspects of growing oyster mushrooms on a substrate consisting of hardwood.

we’ll be introducing two different ways of pasteurizing, one being cold pasteurization, and the other one a regular heat pasteurization. Both has its benefits and drawbacks.

The workshop will be around 2 hours, where we both dig deep into the theory of what makes a mushroom and at the same time some hands on how to prepare substrates and innoculation of the substrate.

the innoculation of substrates requires sterility which due to COVID-19 we unfortunately can’t open up the laboratory to the public, which is why we instead favor of showing a mock-up of how to work with innoculation, using different household items and/or low tech ways of using still air boxes instead.
